Beginning Hula

Beginning January 14                                                                      Aloha! Practice the Hawaiian spiritual dance form known as Hula (Auana), with Charlotte Kobayashi

With its slow and relaxing nature, Hula allows for all to participate.

We encourage members who take part in this 4-week program, to enjoy from beginning to end for the full benefit of learning one or two hulas. You’ll learn tips and tricks to use a computer, or other devices, and access the internet to better connect with family, friends and virtual communities. Zoom opens a world of classes and activities for exercise, learning and fun. The internet and apps offer new options for online shopping, deliveries and resources like virtual travel and museum tours. Learn and feel safe.

Join our virtual classes over 8 weeks from February 1st starting with the very basics and building up your tech knowledge as you go. Beginners join from the start. If you are an intermediate, join just the classes you need.

For active older adults who are looking for a modified Zumba class. This lower intensity workout focuses on balance, range of motion, and coordination. Come ready to sweat, and leave feeling stronger!

Caring Connections

Vivalon has partnered with LITA (Love is the Answer) to offer a new in-home friendly visitor program. Caring Connections matches older residents with local Marin County volunteers for weekly chats and friendship in the comfort of older adults’ homes. The visits are generally 30 to 45 minutes long and will continue for at least six months.

Vivalon has been providing services to Marin County’s older adults for 65 years, including almost 30 years of in-home services, such as meal delivery. www.vivalon.org LITA has been connecting volunteer friends with residents in Marin’s long-term care facilities for 45 years. www.litamarin.org We have combined our expertise to develop Caring Connections so that older adults who are aging-in-place have access to vital social connections.

The classes focus on Italian language and culture. Classes run for 8-week sessions, so you’ll be speaking Italian in no time! Maximum of 10 students per session.

Hola Amigos! Are you interested in learning Spanish? Join Carol Costa for 8 weeks and improve your conversational skins.

French-Full

Ca va? Interested in learning a romance language? This class is for you! Madame Duncan will immerse you in eight weeks of French grammar and conversation.

Lifelong Learning Fall 2020

Vivalon’s Active Aging Center and the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Dominican University have joined forces to increase the number of online classes and programs available for our community’s older adults. We are now offering a dual membership. With your paid membership fee at either organization, you will receive the OLLI Basic membership and Vivalon Annual membership.
