September 8, 2017 (San Rafael, CA) -- Marin Senior Coordinating Council, better known as Whistlestop, today announced its fourth annual benefit concert, Whistlestock, presented by At Home Caregivers, to be held Sunday, September 24 at Fairgrounds Island- Marin Center. Legendary performers Jesse Colin Young and Pure Prairie League will rock the stage, with local band REWIND opening the festivities. Doors open at 11:30, and music ends at 5:30. WHISTLESTOP PLANS FOR GROWTH BY EXPANDING EXECUTIVE TEAM; HIRES NANCY GEISSE AS CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

San Rafael, Calif. (January 24, 2019) – Whistlestop, a San Rafael-based nonprofit that promotes the independence, well-being and quality of life for older adults and people living with disabilities in Marin County, today announced the appointment of Nancy Geisse as chief operating officer. This newly created position comes on the heels of two additional C-level officer positions new to Whistlestop. Jeff Wands was appointed chief financial officer in October 2018 and Yvonne Roberts was named chief donor relations officer in December 2018. All three appointees will leverage their combined expertise to further expand Whistlestop’s services and reach. The organization, along with Novato-based BioMarin Pharmaceutical Inc., recently filed an application with the City of San Rafael to develop a healthy aging campus with affordable housing for older adults in downtown San Rafael.

In this new position, Baker continues to report to CEO Joe O’Hehir and is responsible for leading a workforce of over 400 employees and volunteers who work to support Whistlestop’s mission.

Whistlestop Nourish Expands Home-Delivered Meal Solution To Reduce Food Insecurity Among Marin’s Chronically Ill Residents

San Rafael, Calif. (May 29, 2019) – Whistlestop, a San Rafael-based nonprofit that promotes independence, well-being and quality of life for older adults and people living with disabilities in Marin County, today announced the expansion of Whistlestop Nourish, a solution that delivers nutritious meals to people who suffer from chronic illness in Marin County. The Whistlestop Nourish expansion was made possible thanks to generous donations to upgrade and expand its food storage facility in San Rafael, California, and the continued growth of its partnership with ExtraFood, a county-wide nonprofit food recovery program committed to providing Whistlestop Nourish with fresh meals. With the expanded facility and food donations, Whistlestop Nourish will be able to nearly triple its current reach.
